On April 10th, 2026, Sonora Collective presented an evening of early music at Solar Antique Tiles in SoHo, transporting audiences through six centuries of musical history. Surrounded by an exquisite collection of antique tiles dating back to the 16th century, guests enjoyed an intimate concert featuring works by Hildegard von Bingen, Susato, Gabrieli, Corelli, Quantz, J.S. Bach, and Telemann. The evening featured special guest Andrew Gonzalez, who performed J.S. Bach’s monumental Suite No. 6 in D major on the violoncello da spalla—a rare five-stringed, shoulder-played instrument from the 18th century. As one of the few musicians in the world who performs on this remarkable instrument, Gonzalez offered audiences a unique opportunity to experience Bach’s music in a rarely heard form. Many thanks to Solar Antique Tiles for hosting this memorable evening celebrating the beauty of early music and historic craftsmanship. You can listen to highlights from the concert here.
