Founded in early 2020, Sonora Collective is a New York City–based collective of musicians and composers dedicated to bringing chamber music and visual art together in inspiring and unconventional spaces. With a passion for artistic collaboration and creative programming, Sonora Collective presents vibrant performances that celebrate both established repertoire and lesser-heard compositional voices from the past and present.
At the heart of Sonora Collective is a commitment to reimagining the traditional classical music experience. By fostering meaningful connections between performers, audiences, and the surrounding artistic community, the collective seeks to make chamber music more engaging, welcoming, and accessible while cultivating a more expansive audience for the future of classical music.

Sonora Collective transforms art galleries and other unique spaces throughout New York City into intimate settings for live chamber music. Our concerts invite audiences to experience classical music in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, where interaction between performers and listeners is encouraged, and the traditional boundaries of the concert hall are reimagined.
Our programming spans centuries and styles, bringing together beloved masterworks, overlooked gems, and cutting-edge contemporary compositions. We are especially committed to elevating underrepresented compositional voices and expanding the chamber music repertoire through the commissioning and performance of new works. To date, Sonora Collective has commissioned original compositions by Jared Miller, Paul Frucht, and Gemma Peacocke.
Collaboration is central to our work. We have presented performances in partnership with a wide range of New York City galleries and cultural spaces, including Hashimoto Contemporary, Helm Contemporary, Miguel Abreu, Voltz Clarke, and Fort Makers galleries, as well as Solar Antique Tiles, Jane Ives Studio, Grace Farms, and Norwood Club. Through these partnerships, we create opportunities for music and visual art to intersect, inviting audiences to discover both art forms in new and unexpected ways.

Our musicians received their training from top conservatories, including The Juilliard School, Mannes School of Music, the Cleveland Institute, the New England Conservatory, and more. Several hold positions in prominent orchestras or are active freelancers. Although they are classically trained, Sonora Collective musicians play a multitude of genres, including contemporary music in support of living composers. Our roster draws from musicians from around the world, all sharing in a collective artistic vision to serve a community of innovative artists.
