A combination of both performers and composers, Sonora is a musicians collective that enhances artistic spaces with live music and sound art. We collaborate with contemporary artists to create vibrant
performance experiences in special venues
and installation spaces. Our commitment to uniting artists together is the forefront of our mission; we aim to foster a greater love and engagement with the arts by creating an expanded experience between the artistic disciplines.
We are classically trained musicians that play a multitude of genres, which prominently includes contemporary music in support of living composers. Our roster of musicians aims to share artistic visions and serve a community of innovative artists.
With the intent of fully maximizing the varied talents of musicians and visual artists, we reimagine and transform traditional concerts by providing a more immersive experience for cultural consumers. Concert-goers can look forward to an added visual component, and in turn visual aesthetes can be entertained by a live performance. Sonora merges the two aesthetics for the audience.
Most recently, Sonora collaborated with NYC's Norwood Club, an exclusive members-only arts and culture club. In early March of 2020, we collaborated with Fort Makers, a New York-based design exhibition and artist collective for a concert experience made possible by Cultural Counsel. Prior to 2020, Sonora was involved with NYFW fashion designer, Sienna Li and art auction house Sotheby’s in successful cooperation.
Sonora's founders are clarinetist Amy Wang, violinist Julia Danitz, and flutist Katie Althen.
