On February 24th, 2024, Sonora Collective was invited to perform at Grace Farms in New Canaan, Connecticut, as part of its Winter Concert series. Set in the breathtaking, glass-enclosed Sanctuary overlooking the surrounding landscape, the afternoon featured an eclectic program of chamber music spanning the Baroque era to the present day. Works by Vivaldi, Bach, Ravel, Valerie Coleman, Caroline Shaw, Alberto Ginastera, and others were performed by Sonora Collective musicians Katie Althen-Velázquez (flute), Julia Danitz and Jeremías Sergiani-Velázquez (violins), Leah Ferguson (viola), and Clare Monfredo (cello). The performance also included a conversation with Grace Farms Music Director Marcus G. Miller, during which Sonora Collective's co-directors shared insights into the history of chamber music and the ensemble's mission to bring classical music into unique and welcoming spaces. Many thanks to Grace Farms for hosting this memorable afternoon of music, conversation, and community.
